Crash Investigation Unit

The crash investigation unit (C.I.U.) is comprised of five Deputies and one Sergeant.  The unit’s primary function is to investigate fatal crashes or serious injury crashes likely to result in a fatality.  The unit is also responsible for the reconstruction of all crashes resulting in criminal prosecution.  Additionally, the crash unit is responsible for insuring that all evidence is documented, photographed, and collected so a thorough investigation and/or reconstruction can be completed.
